It has been a while since our last update, a lot has been going on behind the scenes so here it is!
It has taken longer than we’d hoped for the initial set-up. We have had to apply to become a registered company to enable us to open a bank account. We have just received confirmation that we are registered so the forms are going off to the bank now! Once we have a bank account (this will take a few weeks) we’ll be able to start fundraising and apply for charity status, which will help us when applying for grants.
You’ll all know that at their meeting in October, Copythorne Parish Council officially agreed to support us. We are immensely grateful to them for making this a viable project, and for their continued support as they are helping us to explore available funds from the district and county councils, as well as contributing directly to the project themselves.
At our Open Exhibition, a lovely local lady Mai Wakatsuki said she’ll be running the London Marathon in April and has agreed to raise money for us – Thank You! We are in the process of setting up an online donations page for her. Watch this space if you’d like to sponsor her!
You may have met some of our committee at the Copythorne and Bartley School Christmas Fayres or the Little Angels Baby Sale, thank you to these organisations for letting us promote the playground at your events.
Copythorne Community Group have kindly offered their support with the playground too with some fundraising events coming up – please like their Facebook page and keep an eye out for their events, including a Quiz Night on 28th January. This is in addition to their generous donation from the Barn Dance held last November, Thank you!
As always, keep thinking of ways you can support this, it will be such an asset for our community! If there’s any kind of event coming up this summer that you could use as a potential fund raiser, please jump on board, we need all the support we can get to reach our £50,000 target!
Thank you for your patience with this, and your continued support!

The committee has formed (see Background) and written a business plan to secure the support of the Copythorne Parish Council and to seek funding for the construction of a playground. A site has been identified and approved. Various comparable quotes and playground designs have been obtained from several reputable companies who construct playgrounds nationwide for councils and schools.
Our next step is to present the business plan to the local council and request its support for our project.
